The Smile Of War

The war is just a myth
But it’s still draggin on
Say there are no enemies
While they’re fighting everyone

They’re fighting you and me
Their sisters and their brothers
Fighting for freedom
While they’re killing each other

Look at the big picture
Covered up in black and white
Ain’t about good ‘n’ evil
Just take a look at the device

Bodies in the streets
And people on the couch
Hypnotised by their TV
So no one shouts out loud

So what will you do
When they knock at your door
With their guns in their hands
And their smile that says war

You get shot at the border
Cause you only try to live
Shout out for human rights
And you won’t get a whiff

Forced to leave their house
Their future long gone
Now living on the streets
Their children without home

Spending a life time
Running out for luck
Only to get raped
In the back of a truck

So what will you do
When they knock at your door
With their guns in their hands
And their smile that says war

Blood on the streets
Blood on my hands
Blood on your shoes
But the story never ends

They walk up to you
A dollar in their hand
There is the smile and you realise
It’s your wife they demand

Tell me what would happen?
Tell me what would you do?
Would you try and shoot them down
As they will shoot you?

Pick up your phone
They’re listening to you
Leave them a message
They’re only as strong as we let them to

I know it’s easier
To believe what they say
But who do you want to be
At the end of your day

So what will you do
When they knock at your door
With a gun in their hand
And a smile that says war
