Dead Man's Dream

The leaves are green but falling
I'm far away from where I've been
My world is here but it ain't turnin
Must have stopped to see what's to be seen

For now I got to keep on
Some way further down the line
To escape and start (to find)
Some reality of mine

But I can't hide from me
Can’t hide from me
Knowing that I'm wrong
To keep my eyes wide open
All the while that I'm gone

Ch:
But what good are my eyes
When I keep 'em shut all the time
If I could only
Dream a dead man's dream
To secure my mind
Dream a dead man's dream

Is it wise being a fool
Going through a night
So dark and pitch black
With no torch and no light

Or foolish to be wise
To excuse yourself from life
Hiding yourself
In a shelter of disguise

But I can't hide from me
Can’t hide from me
Knowing that I'm wrong
To keep my eyes wide open
All the while that I'm gone

Ch:
But what good are my eyes
When I keep 'em shut all the time
If I could only
Dream a dead man's dream
To secure my mind
Dream a dead man's dream
