Bridge Over Jordan

An army of flowers at the end of a shadowy road
Standing their watch for their share of gold
Way over yonder you will find them soon
Chasing your crying sun and my dying moon

And you find yourself lost in a foggy dawn
Don’t stand still while you’re walking your waltz
Beside the road of life in your time coloured coat
Eyes on your sleeve and your heart on the road

When you reach the lake of silence, go take a swim
Look into this mirror, so you know if it’s you or if it’s him
Don’t worry about breaking, the perception’s there to die
No matter the reflection, the raven will fly

Ch:
Across the bridge over Jordan
To the faraway land
Down the shadowy road
Shake the faceless warden’s hand
Along the overgrown way
To my seat at the dock of the golden bay

Pull safely through the alley, just count ‘till five
Submit yourself to the wind and take fortune as wife
Of course you could hitch-hike and leave her a Miss
Standing around waiting for luck as a kiss

You’ll encounter more headlights down the highway for sure
But travelling down the countryside can be a winding cure
Presenting the journey with time along the creek
On the run up the slope to the mountain’s peak

Up there I will light a fire for you
A fire on the mountain to light up the morning dew
I’ll make it burn bright, it’ll never stop to shine
So the army of flowers won’t know which sun is yours and which is mine

Ch:
Across the bridge over Jordan
To the faraway land
Down the shadowy road
Shake the faceless warden’s hand
Along the overgrown way
To my seat at the dock of the golden bay
