Aleppo

Remember the times
You pretended to be fine
But you we’re bleeding

Like the world is all light
So you don’t feel
Voracious

Like a tale with an end
No one can amend
But they still fake it

Oh I tell you a story
About the bird of all times
Trying to resign
From being confined

This bird’s in a cage
Of hate and rage
Being born into fault
Isn’t his mistake

But apparently it makes
The cage to his place
Untill you lay a trace
Of money to chase

His wings make him sing
A different song
Of freedom and peace
Under everyone’s sun

Oh a friend of a brother
Is a brother to him
Still his master’s a man
Who doesn’t like what he sings

Though born in his cage
He’s trying to escape
The iron bars of law

But his fate is forged
As a masterpiece
Of war

It’s a fellow in Aleppo
Who’s holding his keys
But the fellow in Aleppo
Doesn’t know he’s not free

This fellow I’m talkin bout
Is in his own cage
Of the master’s hatred
And tireless rage

Still the bird is keepin on
Singin his song
Of freedom and peace
Under everyone’s sun

Oh a friend of my brother
Is a brother to me
And this bird I’m singing of
Is a brother you see
